Dye Sensitized Solar Cells

Dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) have attracted considerable attention due to their low cost and relatively high solar energy conversion efficiency. To achieve this aim, the sensitizer in the DSSCs should be a dye, which absorbs in the visible spectrum, and is stable enough to long exposures under sunlight. Phthalocyanines and perylenes are well known for their high thermal and photochemical stability, intense absorption in the visible region and large extinction coefficient. J. Mater.
